Philo's Internal Tools: Image Lookup
Philo's Internal Tools: Image Lookup

At Philo, we faced a challenge with Gracenote's API – images in the wrong language and a slow process. During Hack Week, I, and a backend engineer, created a smart widget to fix this. The widget filters out language issues and speeds up our image search, making a big difference for our design team.

Timeline: 1 Week

The Problem to Solve

The challenge involves Gracenote's API, causing language inconsistencies and slowing down image retrieval, disrupting design workflows. Fetching images in French instead of English hindered integration, taking hours and impacting efficiency. The goal was a solution ensuring language consistency and streamlining retrieval to save time for Philo's design team.

Our Solution

In Hack Week, we made a custom widget with aspect ratio and text filters, streamlining image retrieval from Gracenote's API. This resolved language inconsistencies, significantly boosting efficiency for Philo's design team. The widget's user-friendly interface ensures only relevant images integrate into design projects.
